Adult Children of Alcoholics

“I grew up with an alcoholic father and my mother was there, but never seemed really there. I didn’t think it affected me until recently.”

“My parents both drank, and fought. I don’t think I really know what I healthy relationship is and it is really starting to affect my relationships.”

I have a special focus in working with adult children of alcoholics. This term, commonly referred to as ACOA, can mold and sculpt a child growing up to be a seemingly functioning, but actually non-functioning or unhappy adult. The three cardinal rules of a dysfunctional family are: don’t talk, don’t feel, don’t trust. How is this affecting you today? Let’s talk.
