I work with clients who struggle with relationship and family issues, drug & alcohol abuse, family alcoholism/addiction, adult children of alcoholics (ACOA), stress, anxiety, depression, and codependency. You may be struggling with some of these issues and want the guidance and feedback from a professional. My therapeutic experience includes several years working in outpatient drug & alcohol treatment centers with recovering alcoholics/addicts and family members in the pursuit of a sober and healthy lifestyle. I provide individual therapy, couples and family therapy, drug and alcohol assessments, and one on one therapy post-inpatient treatment. Our work will include learning to be in the present with less emotional reactivity and more balance (using mindfulness skills), understanding how one thinks and what we do because of our thinking (cognitive behavior therapy), to increase awareness and insight. We will choice, freedom and empowerment.
I have a specialty in addiction issues. I have extensive experience and education in the treatment of addictions am a dual licensed practitioner, a CDP otherwise known as a Chemical Dependency Professional and a LMHC, or a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Washington. Both licenses take several thousand hours of post graduate professional work, which I have completed. My experience also includes research at University of Washington Addictive Behaviors Research Center and clinical work at Harborview Mental Health and Addictions. I work with addicts in recovery. This requires a minimum of one year clean and sober from drugs and alcohol and an active recovery program and support system. I do not work with clients who are beginning their journey of sobriety, however I can offer an assessment and referrals.
